After completing and mastering the calculations for the Line Length of the Common Rafter, the learner will now apply the angles and the lengths to the rafter stock to mark it for cutting. The following practices will be followed:
- using the rafter tables on the framing square
- attaching stair gauges and jigs to the framing square for roof angles
- using the speed square for setting roof angles according to slope
- marking the ridge, heel, and tail plumb cuts
- marking the seat level cut to indicate the birdsmouth
- marking the tail level cuts for the soffit and fascia
- shortening the Common Rafter at the ridge
- using the LLCR to layout the Common Rafter
